Hey donald!
Well, a mixer can be perfect, just make sure that the actual mixer has a pre-amp for recordplayers built in. if not, well, then it can be a little dificult to do such things, like record into the computer. but, I have recorded directly in to the line in from my old amplifire also, with no problem at all, but if you like to have more than one sorce, such as tape decks, record-players, CD-players etc, then amixer would be perfect for this. one important note here,is make sure that your mixer has good quality with a very low noise floor, well, this means that the actual noise of the mixer,is low enough, so that you don't get alot of hiss during the actual recording. my old DJ mixer is humming alot.

it would be best to use a mixer but you could record from the amplifyers tape loop in to the line in of the sound card. The mixer would give you a better match. ----- Original Message ----- From: "jim gill" <sf49e...@surewest.net>
