Yes, Switch is good - I use it too.
Can't you play the file and then record it in a recorder e.g. Audacity?
It's not quite the same but this might supply a solution?

The problem is that I will only be using it 2 or 3 times so it seems hardly
worth spending the money on a programme like sound taxi?

For all my other conversions Switch is more than enough.
