Houdy las,

Don't sweat him buddy. Perhaps somebody's a bit miffed cause they didn't think about capitalizing on a great product first. Remember bro, there's a lotta jealousy in the world. I'm a technically savvy person by lots of standards, however, I'm never one not to ask for help with something if I need it, and your presentation is sure going to help me and all of the folks who'll be tuning in tomorrow. The sansa clip is a great product and I'm pushing all of my friends blind or sighted to think about picking one up for themselves.

Subject: RE: Presentation of Rockbox on a Talking MP3 Player

Hi Matthew,

Thanks for the benefit of a doubt, which Dane completely neglected to
give to a complete stranger.

I don't charge for Rockbox and never have. I make available an
alternative to the higher-priced MP3 players for thos who don't have
the know-how, time, or experience to do for themselves. Not everyone
in the blind community has the knowledge to install Rockbox on their
player and set it up for themselves. I do that for them and they pay
me a little extra to provide them with the finished product, and I
help them with using it and enjoying their listening choices, which
brings them pleasure that they would have had to pay hundreds of
dollars for if they used another alternative, which perhaps they
weren't in financial shape to do.

Yes, Rockbox is open source and free, and some people find it easy to
install, while others do not. It is these people that I help out with
my service. No one is forced to purchase anything, and I'm completely
honest with anyone who I deal with. I have sent many people to
rockbox.org, only to have them call me back and ask me tons of
questions or to have me Rockbox their player for them.

Unlike Dane, I do know what I'm talking about.

I would wonder if he could get around that by just saying he is charging for
the labor to do it? Instead of charging any money for the actual program?
Just a thought. I don't like the policy though. As you stated I believe it
is free and easy to install.
