You can find CDex on sourceforge.com, or I think www.whitestick.co.uk has it as well. ----- Original Message ----- From: "kim kelly" <kim...@cableone.net>

Cdex does in fact automaticly fill out the information, provided you set the option to automaticly connect to remote cddb, and you can rip to mp3 up to 320k-bit. Wmp can only go to 160 .wma. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tom Kaufman" <tomca...@comcast.net>

WMP works for me when it comes to ripping CDs to the hard drive; I like it because, right out of the box, I found that it was already putting the titles with the tracks (CDEX doesn't do it; you have to tell it) but in my opinion, both programs work fine; it's all in what you like!

It's been a while since I've ripped a CD under Windows, but I just ended up using Windows Media Player. I would have trouble with some CD's using
CDex, and since I'm not an audifile, I just found it easy to use WMP,
since it was already sitting their on my hardrive. I'm not trying to
criticize CDex, but rather just pointing out another alternative.

Hello again. I use CDEX for this purpose, and I think that was the program we used when I was on the phone with you. You'll run into
the same problem that you had before, if it won't recognize the cd
info. It will make a folder called no artist, with a folder called no
title inside of it, if you set it up this way. Then you'll need to
rename the folders, but the ID3 tags won't be filled in properly,
though you could tab through and fill in the artist and title info
before you hit f9 to extract into mp3. F8 extracts to .wav, by the
way.. If you take the time to do the filling in of the info before
extracting, then the folders that are created will be relevant.
