Hi Steve. As far as I know, the main difference between those files aside from what you mentioned is the extension. They tell the iDivices and iTunes where to put them/ how to treat them, i.e., audio books ormusic, podcasts, etc.

I looked these up on fileext.com and found them to be bookmarkable
M4A's. However, the M4A's I know about don't have video in them, but
the M4B's do. Is it safe to just change the extension to M4A and leave
them at that?
