I've upgraded and i don't know if there's any differences.
But i guess there's a lot of bug fixes on the latest version.
Actually i agree with you about the noise reduction in audacity.
Its far far far far better than goldwave.
I don't see the need of goldwave, except the batch converter.
Its really really nice.
I have copied an audiobook from cassette to my computer and there's a lot of hissing noise in this book. I tried to apply the noise reduction on this hissing and when i did that the sound went quiet clear and wonderful.

I have been using Audacity 1.3 beta. Are there any advantages in upgrading to 2.0? Also, the noise reduction effect in Audacity appears to be far superior to that in Goldwave, which I used up until a few years ago. Is this accurate or just an isolated event? For example, I successfully eliminated virtually all of the background noise from a recording without affecting the quality of the voice. When I would attempt to do this in Goldwave, I would get that under-water cell phone distortion effect at times in some parts of the recording.
