I don't recall that I've ever had to do anything to my sound card to play music on VIP..but maybe there's something in the client that takes care of that!

Depends on your sound card where you set it but yes, its easily done.

Basically you want to change your sound source from mid to line in and
you're on your way.

If I am on a chat site or on Skype using my microphone, how can I play
and MP3 file from my hard drive?  I have heard people do this, for
example, to play a sample of them playing an instrument, but I do not
know how this is done or if special software is required.
