Hi again!
I've had one of these speaker systems for just under a week now and its the
best portable Bluetooth Speaker System of its size I've owned to date, the
MX-P100 puts the Jawbone Jambox to absolute shame.
Firstly, the MX-P100 is Bluetooth 3.0 compatible and - whilst not the quality
of Bluetooth 4.0 - it does mean that the Hands Free Speakerphone function can
take HD Voice calls and issue commands to SIRI if you're planning to use this
Speaker with an iPhone, iPad etc.
Bluetooth pairing is easy enough, just select the MX-P100 device from the
Bluetooth devices list or - if you have a MFC compatible phone - wipe the phone
over the top of the MX-P100 for instant bluetooth pairing, the MX-P100
remembers 8 paired devices.
The The sound of the MX-P100 is more natural sounding than that from the Jawbone Jambox
which a friend of mine described as being "Too Boxy", I agree with his
description.
Separation of sound between speakers - even though the MX-P100 is only 7 inches
from left to right - is there to be heard and I suspect that Yamaha have used a
bit of DSP technology here to present the effect.
Construction is rugged, in fact this unit can be used outdoors and is weather
proof.
The MX-P100 can be used as an external sound device for a Windows or Mac
computer, just connect the MX-P100 to a USB port on your computer and select it
from the devices list to enjoy high quality sound, a perfect companion for
Notebooks and Laptops.
Your iPhone or tablet have its battery charged from the internal battery of the
MX-P100 which adds to the convenience and flexibility of the package.
The MX-P100 features a voice guidance and prompting system which is available
in multiple languages including English.
I I have advice for those who jave a Jawbone Jambox, throw the thing away as
the Yamaha MX-P100 sounds so much better and is far more functional, even built
better. For those who are considering the purchase of a Jawbone Jambox then
don't go near it, not only is the Yamaha MC-P100 better but its nearly half the
price of the Jawbone Jambox.
Here's a review I found on the MX-P100 though it does seem a little dated as
some of the features and functions I've mentioned aren't listed in the review
so perhaps a firmware update has come along since the original review linked to
here was written.
