Okay thanks, Pioneer are still supporting software updates for the system as I updated it yesterday, I'll have a look and see what the C5 offers over the C3 and C4.

dane, the xsmc3 and mc4 are discontinued by pioneer, the smc5 doesnt say anything about being discontinued, but i'm not finding anybody in the states selling it. so possibly the us model is a different model number.
thanks les.

The interesting thing about this model is that Pioneer Australia don't seem to support it, I bought the model through eBay and its certainly available in the United States.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if there's a model above this one that might even have a CD Player or other features given that the cabinet of the unit has a couple of blank panels on the front and top.

The system described here is both the most complete and flexible Media
Center I've used.

I'll be writing a review on the system shortly as I have some exploring to
do to get access to some of the features so here's a summary of what I've
found thus far.

The system is a stereo unit which looks much like a Boombox but thinner.

Sound is very good with the unit offering Digital Amplifiers at 20 Watts RMS
for each channel.

Connectivity options would seem endless when you look at what's available on
the system.

. Bluetooth Connectivity
. AirPlay and DLNA compatible
. USB port which will handle files in most audio formats including FLAC,
AAC, MP3 etc.
. Line-In jack
.Internet radio
. FM Tuner
. Music Server
. Compatible with Pioneer Remote Controller Apps for IOS and Android .Able to handle music services such as Spotify and Pandora .Built-in iPhone dock

Its unfortunate that Pioneer Didn't include DAB+ but perhaps its easier to
market something like this world wide without DAB+.

The XW-SMC4 can be connected to your Network either using Wi-Fi or LAN,
unfortunately I'm going to require a little sighted assistance to set up the Wi-Fi connection but I was able to connect to the network using the LAN port
and update the firmware without any issues, the system has a HTML Web
Interface.

I'll keep you all informed of my progress
