i'm still looking to see if theres a model thats released in the united
states. if its like other pioneer models, the model number will be different
for the united states version.

Okay, looks like I'm out of luck trying to get a XW-SMC5 in Australia but
the XW-SMC4 and XW-SMC3 still seem readily available in Australia at least.
As has been noted, the XW-SMC5K has a CD/DVD player built-in which is
multiple format playback. The XW-SMC4 and XW-SMC3K seem identical except
that the SM$K comes with the Bluetooth adapter whereas with the SMC3K its
available as an optional extra.
