Hello Colin: I think you are referring to Stereo Mix or What you hear, which was common in Windows XP and in an attemp to control piracy, is missing in most Windows 7 sound cards. You can get a similar effect and combine different sound sources with Total Recorder Pro, it will allow you to mix in Options.
