Dear SPL users using NVDA,
I'm delighted to announce the release of official build of StationPlaylist
add-on 4.0. This release packs a number of useful new features, bug fixes
and provisions for future improvements. Highlights of this release include
background monitoring of library scans and settings to control scan
announcement output, an unassigned command to announce time including
seconds (localized too), new SPL Assistant and Controller layer commands,
microphone alarms, Track Tool support and changes and bug fixes.
The add-on can be downloaded from the following link:
http://addons.nvda-project.org/addons/StationPlaylist.en.html
Important warning: Add-on 4.0 and later drops support for Studio 4.33. For
those using Studio 4.33, a separate 3.x compatibility release (currently
3.6) is available at:
http://www.nvda-kr.org/files/stationPlaylist-3.6.nvda-addon
If it opens as a zip file, rename the file extension to .nvda-addon. I plan
to support Studio 4.33 (via add-on 3.x) until add-on 5.0 is released
(tentatively this summer).
I'd like to take this time to say thanks to so many users for sending me
feedback and bug reports which made add-on 4.0 what it is today. When I
released version 1.0 about a year ago, I didn't expect this add-on to be
this popular and useful for broadcasters using NVDA. Back then, I promised
to add-on users that my add-ons will be free and anyone is welcome to study
the code, and I promise once again that StationPlaylist add-on for NVDA will
always be free as it has been for the past year.
Before I go, here's a sneak preview of what's coming in future add-on
versions:
* Track dial: wanted to use arrow keys to look at track properties such as
title, intro time and so on? I'm delighted to announce that this feature
will make its appearance soon.
* Background encoder status monitor: for those using SAM encoder, a feature
is under way to let you monitor the status of an encoder from any program so
NVDA can tell you various status changes.
* A major bug fix release: Add-on 5.0, the next major version is under
development. One of the goals of this version is to hunt bugs throughout the
development cycle - bugs we know already, bug that we may not know and so
on. Thus I'd like to ask that you file any bug you find with the add-on for
me and others to tackle.
Thanks. Hope you enjoy the new add-on release.
Cheers,
Joseph P.S. For Studio 5.10 users, I'd like to ask that you wait until 4.1
release.
