One important thing I forgot to mention regarding the two new Sangean
models and this is very important, both can be used on the 5.0GHZ Wi-Fi
bands.

Hi!
Streaming and listening to Internet Radio is perhaps one of my favourite
hobbies.
In 2011 I was fascinated by the Logitech Squeezebox Boom, a stand-alone
device which could play both Internet Radio streams and allow the user
to stream audio to it via a Computer or similar.
In 2012 the then Logitech Squeezebox Smart Radio came along and this
added portability to the mix - whilst the Smart Radio was in range of a
Wi-Fi network I could enjoy the benefits of Internet Radio and my Music
library through the top class speaker of the device .-
In 2013 I purchased a Sangean WRF-28D radio though I didn't like it much.
Whilst the functionality was pretty good - again allowing the playback
of Internet radio, streaming music and so on - the quality of the
in-built speaker was very poor in my view, the radio had terrible DAB+
reception and FM was very bad so it was with interest that I read about
the replacement model from Sangean, the WRF-28C which I bought some
weeks ago and here are my notes concerning this model as opposed to the
older D model.
The radios look exactly the same but there are quite a few changes
inside the radio.
Firstly the FM and DAB+ have been improved.
You'll notice the vast improvement in speaker quality, it now sounds
very respectible considering the speaker is only a 3 inch driver.
Volume is considerably louder than on the previous model.
The new C model will allow the user to play Spotify using Spotify Connect.
Most important of all in my view is the incredibl battery life of the
new model compared to the old, at least twice the life of the old model,
I get 22 hours out of a set of 7500MAH batteries which is impressive.
Operations between the two models are pretty much the same and the newer
C model - as with the D - can be remotely accessed via the Undok
IOS/Android App and can be streamed to via your computer or compatible
DLAN Application.
Be warned however that availability of the newer model is restricted in
Australia at least so you may have to look carefully to find it, I
bought mine from Trevor Lees Audio in Kew Victoria and they have a web
site which you can eaisly find on Google or eBay, another place to look
is JB Hi-Fi.
