The IESG has approved the following document: - 'Path Computation Element Communication Protocol (PCEP) Extensions for IPv6 Segment Routing' (draft-ietf-pce-segment-routing-ipv6-25.txt) as Proposed Standard
This document is the product of the Path Computation Element Working Group. The IESG contact persons are Gunter Van de Velde, Jim Guichard and John Scudder. A URL of this Internet-Draft is: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-pce-segment-routing-ipv6/ Technical Summary Segment Routing (SR) can be used to steer packets through an IPv6 or MPLS network using the source routing paradigm. SR enables any head- end node to select any path without relying on a hop-by-hop signaling technique (e.g., LDP or RSVP-TE). A Segment Routed Path can be derived from a variety of mechanisms, including an IGP Shortest Path Tree (SPT), explicit configuration, or a Path Computation Element(PCE). Since SR can be applied to both MPLS and IPv6 forwarding planes, a PCE should be able to compute an SR Path for both MPLS and IPv6 forwarding planes. The PCEP extension and mechanisms to support SR- MPLS have been defined. This document describes the extensions required for SR support for the IPv6 data plane in the Path Computation Element communication Protocol (PCEP). Working Group Summary From the shepherd writeup: “Concurrence of a few individuals, with others being silent.” The document appears to have received adequate review from the WG. Although the spring WG was notified there weren’t any cross-WG reviews received, however there is said to be sufficient common participation in the WGs to mitigate concerns. Document Quality Implementations are reported in the document and also noted in the shepherd writeup. Personnel The Document Shepherd for this document is Hariharan Ananthakrishnan. The Responsible Area Director is John Scudder. _______________________________________________ Pce mailing list Pce@ietf.org https://www.ietf.org/mailman/listinfo/pce
