I'm working in Ribbon Communication on SR-TE and PCEP (PCE/PCC) as system
architect.
I arrived at the IETF123 meetings in Madrid, but unfortunately, I didn't
request a small time slot for tomorrow's PCE group meeting in time, so I'm
doing it via email.
We faced the following problem:
* Today: delegation flag is sending from PCC to owner PCE, other
PCE/PCEs will not get delegation info. This is example of multiple PCEs, as
example for PCE redundancy case.
If session with main PCE was terminated for any reason, PCC starts delegation
and state timers. Other PCE can take delegation only when delegation timer is
expired, LSP in orphan state, but before state timer is expired. There is no
PCEP possibility to inform PCE about timers states or about LSP state (for
example, orphan or not) - please, see below some illustration.
My view about the possible solutions:
* Add LSP info will help with it, but can increase the PCEP traffic,
once multiple LSPs will change their status for orphan (like "sync" processing)
* Another option - to add timer info for active PCE about another
(down) session.
* Current option: "other" PCEs shall run the same timers as PCC for
session down. Seems complicated and problematic solution
* Possibility for any PCE to take delegation even if this LSP is
still delegated to some other PCE. It can be defined as vendor decision how to
manage it (explicit user action, internal system decision, whatever), but such
action is legal (maybe under some flag or capability, also will help for
backward compatibility)
* To use "Speaker entity ID" as PCE initiated LSP owner can solve the
problem (if both PCEs have the same entity ID), but it defined as optional and
cannot be used always with all vendors
