If you just want to use the printer with the 6400, you can download and
install Apple's LaserWriter Bridge. I used to use this same configuration in
work (actually, it was a 6500-almost the same).
If you want to print to the Select 360 from any computer on the network, you
need to connect the printer itself to the network hub. This will require
two PhoneNet connectors. (Post a notice here that you are looking for these.
I know that some listers have said here that they have them for sale.) The
second PhoneNet connector should be connected to a localtalk to ethernet
bridge, such as the AsanteTalk. I have a similar network with an iMac, a G4,
a 6500 and a PC (heaven forbid!) and I can print to a Color Stylewriter in
this way. I tried every possible way to get it to work without the PhoneNet
connectors, but no go. PhoneNet made if work seamlessly and has not been
"down" once in six months. One odd thing was that with this configuration,
background printing is disabled on the iMac and G4.
All that being said, with the prices of printers falling all the time and
lotsa sales and rebates around (www.dealmac.com) maybe it's cheaper to just
get a new printer for the other computer. Also, you can now get USB-"bus
powered" scanners and zip drives, can USB-powered printers be far behind?
(Maybe they are even available by now. Folks?)
