Finally got the NeXT's fuser out. It wasn't easy, lets just say that. It
looks exactly the same as the IIsc's, but guess what? They are not
interchangeable. The screw holes are off just so, and the electrical
connectors are the same number of pins and all, but totally different. Doh!

Before I took the IIsc apart, I did a few more tests. Set it to ID# 7 and
turned it on. Tada! A test page. Bunch of vertical lines. (which is correct)
A lot of toner glops, but the toner cartridge is questionable anyway. There
is a dark horizontal line one-third down the page, and a lighter one
two-thirds down. I don't think those are supposed to be there. What would
this be, funky toner cartridge, or something else?
As soon as the test page is finished, the two red lights start blinking
again.
Since the printer has shown some sign that it can print, could this point to
an intermittant fuser, or some other problem?

Sorry for the long post full of questions. I'm new to laser printers. I'm
used to the inkjet "It's broken? Throw it away and buy a new one" mentality.
:)
