Hello everyone,
My name is Jess, and I've been using my PowerMac
9500/150 for several years now. . .and I love the
thing except for one small problem. In order to boot
it, I first have to press the usual power button on
the keyboard, and listen to the chime on the speakers.
But that's where the "usual" stops. After that, I
then have to do the three key reset command on the
keyboard in which I hear the chime again, and the
computer finally boots. After the first chime, all
the computer does is get the hard drives up to speed,
but stops there. . .it doesn't send the video signal
to the monitor, or anything else. After I do the
three key reset on the keyboard, the signal is then
sent to the monitor after I hear the second chime and
everything boots fine. Now, I've always had this
problem as far as I can remember. The computer works
fine overall with little or no problems. . .except
this boot issue. Heck, I don't really even think
about it anymore. . .but at times I would like to just
turn on my computer like everyone else. Now for the
things I 've done in the past trying to fix this:
I've replaced the PRAM battery
I've reformatted both hard drives
I've completely taken apart the system. . .down to the
motherboard looking for any bad chips or mis-alligned
memory. . .everything looked perfect.
Also, I now use a 19" monitor using a VGA adapter on
my stock Mach 64 graphics card. This problem was and
is the same as it was when I had my 15" Apple monitor
with no video adapter.
So, if anyone can help me on this one, I'd love some
input. Thank you very much,
Jess
