Check to make sure you have all the Ethernet-related extensions installed. They are different for every version of the system, but look for:
Apple Enet EnetShimLib ...or anything else that has "Ethernet" or "AAUI" in the file name. If they're in the disable folder, re-enable. If they're missing, you need to re-install.
