Hey listers -- I am in a bit of a predicament. I went and upgraded my Mac to OS 9. Everything has gone just fine, except for when I went to bring my Adobe fonts back over from a Zip disk backup. Apparently somewhere along the line the Zip disk was inserted into a PC and it stripped all of the files of their identities.
I tried using FileTyper to reassign them, but I think that they have been corrupted. While the bitmaps of the fonts seem to be okay on screen, when I go to print I get either courier or nasty bitmapped fonts. It seem that the postscript fonts have been corrupted. Anyway, I panicked for a little bit, but remembered that I had my old Adobe Type-on-Call 4.0 and 4.1 CDs and their access codes stored in my file cabinet. I went and installed the Adobe purchaser utility (intalled/uninstalled different one for respective versions), created a new order for each of the fonts that I had previously and tried to put in their respective access codes. It wouldn't take them. It kept giving me the message that the code was invalid and to check it again. I tried the same install procedure with the machines at my work and end up at the same place. I tried calling Adobe, but that was a joke. Usually they are very good, but the representive told me that there is nothing that he can do as Adobe no longer supports Type-On-Call. After several minutes of me trying to explain that I wasn't trying to purchase new fonts, but just reinstall ones that I had already registered and been given access keys for, he told me that I could call Adobe's ATM tech support. The charge would be $25 and a toll call. He also told me that they wouldn't help me anyway as it is no longer supported. Do these keys expire? Is there someting special that I need to do that I haven't remembered? Do they keys only work on the machine that they were originally unlocked on?
