        It depends on what you use if for.  My XLR8 G3/500 upgraded 
9600 is lame in Photoshop compared to my XLR8 G4/450 upgraded 9600.

        In addition, my stock Blue&White G3/450, with a faster system 
bus, is even lamer compared to my XLR8 G4/450 upgraded 9600.

        In fact, I now use standard 9600/350's (604e Processor) for 
Photoshop because if I run them from an Ultra-160 hard drive they 
perform very well. If you do graphics you are throwing your money 
away if you take a 300 MHz or 350 MHz processor out of a 9600 and 
replace it with a G3 processor upgrade.

        If you are going to do heavy graphics, skip the 603 processor.
