When it was new, I'm sure it was quite costly, more or less so 
depending upon how new the 9500 was when the upgrade was done. I 
think the oldest 9500's shipped with a whopping (and I'm not being 
sarcastic) 32 megabytes. Nobody needed more than that except 
photoshop hackers, who'd been running 132MB Quadra840AVs before. :-)

Now, Velocity Upgrades will sell you 256 megabytes for less than 40 
dollars.
