Any help would be appreciated. iMac DV OS 9.1 1 gig RAM VM off only screen saver is SETI AT HOME NOT set to SLEEP
My son was playing with a Tonka Construciton CD, when the iMac froze and gave us a "bomb" error message something like "System Error TCAP" which looked strange to me, but what the hey. I had to force restart, then I went about some other chores. When I returned to the iMac, the power button was on (green) but the screen was black, like it was off or asleep. It is NOT set to sleep. Punching keys and moving the mouse didn't help. Again I had to force restart and when it came back, the same thing happened. It sounds like the hard disk is spinning, but there is no tone when it restarts. I can't get it to turn off unless I unplug it. Then when I plug it back in, the power button light comes on but the screen remains black. I'm guessing it's a hardware issue that will require a trip to the service center, but on the off chance that someone on the list might have another solution...... Any help would be appreciated.
