Usually the batteries last about 3-5 years. Certainly longer than two months. But how old was the battery when you got it. Since these batteries have a shelf life of 5-10 years they can have sat around for some time and still work, for a while. Unplugging the power cord does increase the battery drain some, depending on model, I don't know specifics about the 7500.
