        One thing I do that no one else has mentioned.....I run a 
SCSI cable up through the opening in the bottom of the 9600 upper 
hinged compartment and plug it into an internal SCSI CD burner.  I 
started doing this in the early days when CD burners sometimes made 
coasters if they were on a chain with other devices. I run my CD 
burners on their own bus and never get coasters.  May be overkill, 
but that is how I have it set up.

        The discussion on  terminating the internal and external 
busses has been excellent and the paragraph at the beginning of this 
message is a good summary. It's simple. Just treat them as separate 
busses.
