Well, apparently I get to eat my words from a week ago about never seeing a
virus on a Mac...and I've been getting a crash course in now you get to fix
it 101

It seems a client uploaded some files to my server this weekend that were
infected with SevenDust C. Dummy me transfered them to another comp to work
on them and that resulted in 2 infected computers. Norton system works has
done a gang buster job at resurecting the crashed drives and removing the
virus? on at least one of the comps. The symantec website made it sound as
if the C varient wasn't a particularly damming varient in the sense that
things could have been much much worse. The server on the other hand is
taking a little longer to fix. 60gigs of stuffit deluxe archives is giving
Norton's a run for it's money.

My question(s) to anyone with any experience in dealing with this stuff is:
Is nortons really "enough" - so far I've deleated all files norton couldn't
repair, ran norton several times(disk repair & anti virus), defraged and
optimized the drives and replaced/reloaded any other files I felt were
suspect. Just what exactly is nortons doing when it's "repairing"? rewriting
code? deleating corrupt code? imprisoning it? or leaving the underlying
structure of my hard and files resembling that of swiss cheese? Also
although SDc is a pre osx virus - 1st recognized in 97 - I primarly run X on
the server, anything I should be looking for in X? I did hit the classic
support in X. To reitterate myself, nortons seems to be doing a knock out
job at the moment, but any additional info would certainly be appreciated.

Thx.
Tom.
