1) Memory, no SDRAM is compatible. You have many RAM slots you will need it for OS X.
2) Ive got a Sonnet 800 G4 in my 8600 Kansas Dont worry about interleaved ram for a g4 upgrade it works just fine with these later generation cards (even if their product manual says not to interleave ram, I questioned Sonnet on this directly and they said they only keep that stuff in for their early g3 cards which had problems with interleaved ram) 3) bottleneck is the bus speed. I think its 50 mhz where as later macs double or more this speed. Overall, in working conditions, i think OS 9.1 is the best (very Fast) and OS X is good too (get MouseZoom- to top apple's max mouse speed) but not as snappy as OS 9.
