EXPORT fee?? What sort of ripoff is this?

It's probably a "Customs Agent" fee. Basically, the packages arrive at the foreign port, and someone has to take them thru Customs. FedEx, UPS, etc all charge extra for this required function, but its already included in the USPS' fee schedule.

Nope. If I import an item via UPS I get a separate (and hefty) agent's fee on arrival. been there, done that. And I have received items FedEx without any such hassle.

Frankly, I can't imagine buying anything from a place like CompUSA. They're one of the most expensive stores around...

$17 (after rebate... what a system) for a USB card ain't bad.

I was going to get a friend in Astoria to receive & forward it, but then CompUSA said:
"CompUSA charges a $30 export fee on all shipments overseas, this is just
their policy. I assume Astoria is in the U.S? I can ship wherever you
like in the U.S. as long as you have your credit card company put the
shipping address on file with your account."

Put the Astoria address on file? Rubbish. Forget it!
