I'd appreciate a copy of 1.0.5, mine is 1.0.4. (on the original CD) The newer version may be a fix for needing VM. The cam isn't for this computer, but my friend's 8600 is set up identically.
The other Mac that I tested the cam on had the same networking configuration ( with AppleTalk on) as the 8600, but worked fine. I think this weekend I may do a clean 9.1 install and start swapping control panels/extensions (starting with all memory control parts.) to see if perhaps the memory control panel is the culprit. I still need to find out why VM won't work with or without the cam software installed. I hate having something wrong with any of my Macs as it could escalate into other problems. I have Apple Video Player in, but it doesn't show anything. (black screen). I also have iVisit, which can work from any video source. It shows the camera as Alaris Web Camera. (all buttons are grayed out , which tells me it can see the camera but has no software control over it.) iVisit works fine with my Connectix Quick Cam and my standard video source, a camcorder via composite video in. BTW: iVisit is a good freeware video conferencing app if anyone needs one.
