I downloaded iTunes 2.0.4 from the link provided here recently. Very nice.
Found out that I needed Authoring Support (AS) to burn CDs from iTunes. Downloaded AS 1.1.9. Installed it.
CD burner is SCSI so the Firewire and USB related extensions are disabled.
iTunes recognizes the burner only if Toast CD Reader extension is disabled. That conflict seems to be pretty well documented.
Has anyone managed to get these things to play nice with one another?

Can't be done. Anything earlier than Toast 5.0.1 has compatibility issues with iTunes. See <http://www.roxio.com/en/support/kb/toast/ETT000038.jhtml> for details.
