>From an OS X user point of view the difference is that Carbon applications
can be run both in OS 9 and OS X natively (ie. in OS X there is no time
wasted to start Classic and that sweet candy-like beauty of OS X liquid
windows is not spoiled by the "Platinum" OS 9 look ;-))

So, if you use only OS 9 on a pre-G3 Mac (without a G3 processor card, or
with a slow one) the best thing to do is to choose that "OS9 Classic"
application and forget about the Carbon one.
