Hi Hal (any relation to Hal 2000, as in, "I'm sorry, Dave. I can't do that.")? Of all the Mac's you tried it with, only the 8500 and the 6500 have CD drives. Is it possible the SCSI ID is set to #3, the ID normally used for an internal CD drive? Use SCSI probe or Apple System Profiler to determine the ID and make sure all SCSI devices (including the Mac itself) have different ID's. John

I just ran into a peculiar problem. I have a PM 6500/225 that will not
recognize my LaCie 2GB external hard drive. Every other Mac I have
(Color Classic, Classic II, SE/30, PM 8500 and IIfx) "sees" it during
startup and it works just fine. It doesn't matter if I have the
termination power on or off (selectable on the LaCie). Just to muddy the
waters a little more I have an original Apple external hard drive (850MB
and ) that IS recognized by the 6500 along with the rest of my stable.
Any ideas? Thanks!

Hal
