I run 9.0.4 and it seems as stable as a rock. I half-heartedly tried 9.1
(via free update download) but for no reason that is relevant here went back
to 9.0.4 and am sort of waiting for a real need to update.

You could take heart from this, Timothy, and go back to 9.0.4 and find out
what was causing such trouble. I know, it is tempting to throw out the lot
and start again but you are not exactly doing this with your import: if you
are going to do the tranfer-dance, you have to step right ... take your
pardner ... 123 ... swing around once ... eg. you need to note the
extensions you used to have on or off and see that at least those that were
on are in and on in the 9.1 set up. Except that some of your troubles may
have been due originally to problem extensions! And you might need to
explore new extensions imported in the tranfer... (I would turn all the ones
that are not in the original 9.0.4 setup off ... at least to start with).
The point is that either you trouble shoot your 9.1 or your 9.0.4 ... I'd
say there's an argument that if you have not got the right 9.1 updater, do
the former.
