I have tried the USB solution too with minimal luck once for a few months I
got the Hp photosmart 7350 to work with my 8500 Franken, and my wife's
windows box by accident. Please don't ask me how I couldn't repeat it try
as I did. What I have now that works is fairly inexpensive, I bought a
cheap SMC Barricade router, they come in many flavors wireless etc but, all
tend to have a print server built in. I am using an old Hp Apollo P2250 I
got from my mother in law, and Hp DeskJet 600 driver. I have yet to get it
to work in classic, but works seamlessly in x.3. I suppose you could share
it on the X box, and get it to work on the 9.1 box. SMC support says
something about laser printer drivers for 9.x, but I haven't been that
interested yet. The apollo has windows connections and connects to the
router. Router $30 on ebay
Printer you could probably get cheap. Just make sure it is some Hp or Epson
thing with Mac support.

Watch out on the print servers. I went looking recently and all the ones I found stated that on the Mac they only worked with Postscript printers. It was typically in the fine print, down in the manual sometimes. So check it carefully before buying.
