Work in my Powermac 8500 as a primary master (I.e. SCSI Internal bus 0)?
I can't seem to find the PM8500's SCSI HD specs anywhere.

That is a sca scsi drive. To get it to work in your 8500 you will need an adapter like this one because your 8500 has a 50 pin internal scsi connector. :

You will also need formatting software. Apple's Drive SetUp only recognizes certain SCSI drives so you will either need to hack Drive SetUp (I have done it for Compaq drives, but never HP) or get a 3rd party formatter like Silver Lining.

Once those two hurdles are cleared, the drive will work fine. I have used sca drives in a number of macs with no problem at all. Also note that sca drives are designed for a server environment and tend to be noisier and run slightly hotter than regular drives, so watch the temp inside your case. I have never had a problem with heat, but I have never had more than 1 sca drive in a case at a time.
