Old Asante NICs have difficulty with 10/100 auto-sensing connections. These Asante NICs predate 10/100 auto-sensing standards. Try putting the hub between the Asante NIC and the Netgear device. -- Clark Martin Redwood City, CA, USA Macintosh / Internet Consulting

It would seem the autosensing is the problem, although I thought that would be a function of the hub and the adapters would not matter. I am a bit disappointed since it is the only one of three 10baseT components that won't work with the hub.

I don't understand the suggestion of putting the hub between the Asante NIC and the Netgear device. The hub is the Netgear device and the Asante NIC's are in the IIci which is the router.

You said you had an older hub that you were replacing with the Netgear hub (it's likely a switch really). It is that older hub I'm suggesting to insert between the Netgear device and the NIC.

Is there any way to force the Netgear Hub to recognise the Asante Cards? I don't have any special extensions other than what Apple supplied with OS 8.1. Might the Asante drivers work better?

There is nothing you can do with the NIC, there is nothing to configure there. Some switches allow you to force a port to be 10BaseT but I don't know if yours would allow it.
