It was pointed out to me that I am asking on the wrong list. I apologize.
However there are perhaps some with USB cards installed and looking to use a
USB keyboard.

The Mac ADB port has four pins. Look at the connector with the plastic pin
straight up. The pins going clockwise from the plastic pin are: +5V, Data,
KB power switch and ground.

A Mac can be started by shorting the keyboard power switch pin to the ground
pin briefly.

This should make it pretty straight forward to construct a switch and remove
the continueing need to keep an ADB keyboard connected to the Mac simply for
the purpose of starting the machine.
