My latest concern is the S-Video out. I recently switched from a short
composite-video cable to a longer, S-Video cable. The picture quality
is improved, and a lot sharper as I expected.

But the S-Video out doesn't work unless I boot with the composite video
plugged into something. Once I get a picture, I can yank the composite
cable and S-video continues to work perfectly (like a jump-start for the
video). Does anyone know a cure for this? Could it be caused by a
dying pRAM battery, since I tested it and it's running low and will be
replaced soon anyway?
