It seems some of us OS 9 / Legacy PCI Mac users have a need for some cross-platform file sharing without the maddening disk errors, corruption andWhile I have not used zip disks for this, I have reliably used both floppies and a usb pen drive to swap files between a beige G3 (off topic reference, but running 9.1) with a usb card and a IBM laptop and a franken pc kludged together from about 4 different systems, both running win98se, with no problems at all.

Would anyone who uses OS 9/8.6 and communicates by disk swaps with PCs error/problem FREE on a DAILY basis please
tell us how to do so. Specifying programs used, type of disk, formatting and other details of how this is done.
We need the advice of professionals here. Let the guess work cease! And may the data transfers be smooth !
If you can not format them in dos format on the mac, then format the ones for transfer use on the pc in regular dos format and the Mac should read them with no problems at all. I do not know how they were formatted with NTFS, but for maximum compatibility, you should not use that format on the pc side of things because, iirc, win 98 machines cannot read that format. Also, according to Bruce, you can not format a floppy in that format.
BTW, usb pen drives are perfect for this kind of transferring and very rugged also. I have run mine, a 32 meg first generation unit, through the washing machine on more than one occasion, and it still works fine. Of course, YMMV.
