Subject: [PCI] 9600 Start-up Anomaly Solved!

At the suggestion of a couple of people, I checked the Memory Control Panel.
The 'Startup Memory Test' option was turned on. Turning it off solved the
problem! Thanks to those who attempted to help me find a solution. Is this a
great list, or what?

By the way, to see the Startup Memory Terst option, hold down 'Command
(Apple)' and 'Option' keys when opening the Memory Control Panel. I could
not find any reference to this in any of my Mac books.

If turning off the memory test solves your freeze on boot problem, then you probably (almost certainly) have one or more defective sticks of RAM.
