Don't know if it matters but I have a G3 with OS 8.6 with a USB card. I am using a wireless mouse which works fine just go to the apple web site and download the USB drivers if you don't have them. USB as a network interface is not good in my opinion. Use your ethernet and attach a wireless device to it.
