>Speaking of bus speeds, my old 9600/200, with the
MaxPowr G3/300 daughtercard never went past 302.1MHz with a 46.5MHz bus.

Although the 9600/200 is normally the best candidate for a G3 or G4 upgrade, NewerTech's cards have trouble making the 50 MHz that the bus is capable of.

Which is why these cards show bus speeds below 50 MHz when the
motherboard itself is perfectly stable at 50 MHz, and perhaps a little
higher.

Also, why I usually recommend that Mach 5 owners of 300 or 350 MHz
machines retain their machines as 604ev's, and not upgrade to G3s.

I have not installed my Zif adaptor in my 9600 until I could find outmore about this.

But I have a haunting thought that the G3 at 300 MHz might still offer an improvement in performance due to processor efficiency alone compared to the 604ev.

The plan has been to wait until I can obtain a 400-450 G4.
