Does anyone know if a G4 processor like the 533, 667 or 733 MHz from a graphite G4 PCI tower will fit into a B&W G3 tower ?
Is this a viable swap ??
The smart aleck answer is that yes, it will physically fit inside the tower, as long as it is not stuffed with pci cards and HDs.
Unfortunetly, the answer you are looking for is that it will not replace the G3 zif that is in your B&W. The G4s (with the exception of the yikes pci video G4) use a a daughtercard while the B&W uses a zif socket, like the beiges. This is a completely different type of setup. Because of this you cannot swap a G4 Daughtercard into a zif socket so it is not viable.
Sorry for the smart aleck answer, it has just been one of those months today.
