<< and the disk controller is a dual channel LVD/SE ATTO (sadly NOT OS X supported).>>
My ATTO UL2D with a pair of 18 GB Western Digital drives taken from my G3'd 7500 seems to work OK in a Sawtooth G4 450 with OS 10.3x installed. While I still use 9.2.2 most of the time; the ATTO card and the WD SCSI drive with Panther installed is recognized under OS X and will boot if needed. The SCSI drive with OS X is a backup clone of a partition of the main boot drive. The main boot drive is an ATA 60 GB Maxtor with Panther installed on the boot partition on the native bus. The benchmark data transfer rates of the ATTO connected LVD SCSI drives are very respectable and on par with the ATTO spec's (at least while using OS 9). I don't know how to benchmark them under OX X. The firmware for the ATTO card is version 1.44 IIRC. The same that worked on the 7500 and OS 8.6/9.1. --glen (digest) -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
