Over the past six or eight months I have been gathering up older Macintosh PCI video cards from various sources (mostly LEM SWAP List and eBay) and writing bits and pieces about them for the retrograde hardware reviews in the Double Click newsletter (www.mause.ca and click on the "Files " tab to download back issues). We have 6 PCI Macs in action here in the Double Click office where I am writing this so there's lots of opportunities to mix and match. This 9600 I'm using for email has had a Twin Turbo 128M8, a ixMicro Ultimate Rez, a Village Tronic MPDD. a Voodoo5 5500 and a Formac ProFormance 3 in it over the past two months. I've got to tell you, the ProfFormance 3 review will not appear until the June issue comes out but it really is an AMAZING card. I suspect that the reviews on the XLR8 website for this card were written before the final release of the ProGraphics software because the latest ProGraphics package installs OpenGL support and ups the speed of the 16-meg card from 270 to 300 MHz. I pulled a 64-meg Voodoo5 5500 PCI to install this 16-meg ProFormance card and the Voodoo5 card is NOT going back in. Check out Completed Auctions or whatever its called on eBay and you will see that I bought this card for the princely sum of $8.05 about 3 weeks ago.
