This old topic again, I have been having to often start twice to get a particular (*not* set as startup) HD to mount on my 7600. Last time this happened with a 9Giger, it was guessed to be a battery problem but it was just the hd on the way out. Solved temporarily by turning on ram check to give the poor thing time to get going (suggestion of another lister). I have an external HD on a slow bus does the same but at least it can be mounted with SCSI Probe 5. The 3 gb job that this is happening to won't respond to mount commands from SCSI probe. Restart always works. And it seems to pass all tests otherwise.
I also have a screen that mostly needs a restart to get display prefs right. So perhaps it is battery this time? But are screen prefs or anything much about a non start up disk stored in battery held memory. Need to think thru this... maybe you can jog me along folks...
