A couple days ago i bought a ppc 9500/132 from goodwill for $35. at first i didn't know much about it, my only contact with macs at that point was my snow iBook, an old p575 and a dead 640. (can't do much with the 128K mac without a mouse.)

so, after being so close to such an amazing number of memory slots and researching it. i decided i would go on a quest to upgrade this beast to as far as i can. "The Beast" had already been updated a bit, a 280MHz processor and 160 mb of ram. it also has an Ati Rage II in.

my first question was to ask if any processor upgrades used the 603 or 604(it was answered by:"not if your upgrading to G3 or G4 :-)"

so i'll just leave this as my introduction and a warning that i'll be back for more information.

Welcome to the list. This makes 2 new listers this week.

A book tells me there may be some dual processor 604 cards out there somewhere. Probably rare.

G3 G4 processors are much easier to find.

Interestingly I read that the 9500 Was actually the first PowerMac to have PCI slots rather than NuBus. !

The fun has just begun. Now you can fill it with drive and network the iBook to it. A great combination.
