Hi Is it remotely possible to put a 233MHz chip from a 9600 into a 7500?
The label on the cpu says 9600 only but I can't help but wonder if it's
possible.
Regard Steve Jarvis
I tried the exact thing, mainly just because it was sittin there when I had
a 7500 open, and it would not boot, no chime.
It should work as long as its not a 300 MHz or 350 MHz "MachV"
daughtercard which it isn't. Put the card in "MAKING SURE ITS SEATED
FULLY IN THE SLOT!, pull the pram battery, then hit the cuda for about
10 seconds, put the battery back in and restart. The 604 and 604e cards
aren't specific to any one machine except for the "MachV" cards in the
8600/250 and 8600/300 and the 9600/300 and 9600/350's as I stated
earlier. I swap processors all the time amongst mac's and clones. From
the 100 MHz 601 to the 120 MHz 604 cards to the 233 MHz 604e cards to
the 250 MHz 604e cards that PowerComputing and Umax machines sported.
