You want to know how to be rid of these programs? Find the OE and IE folders
and trash them. If you can see what are associated extensions in Extension
Manager are by the name or the description ("show item information") and
turn them off. Later look in the disabled extensions folder and throw out
same. If you do not have Microsoft Office or any other MS stuff, this is not
too hard. Look in preferences too and chuck whatever is MS, OE, IE related.
Throw out the relevant caches too, often in Preferences. It does not matter
whether you do any of this perfectly or not, they will not do any harm.
Personally i think it unwise to throw out IE 5 as it is quite a good browser
and loads very quickly. iCab is hopeless for so much these days, but it may
have improved very recently.
What should you use? There is not a lot of choice for pre X (after X,
Moxilla, Safari and others... here you would definitely not use IE). I
recommend WamCom Mozilla 1.3.1, see http://www.mozilla.org/releases/ for pre
X. Mozilla is great for ebay, and has tabbed browsing.
