For high end graphics, postscript is still the conventional and safest method for sending to a service bureau or print shop. Unless you have turned the true type fonts to outline in programs like Illustrator, etc. Printers are still sold with postscript, however, the general user is not concerned with PS. I have an HP Laserjet 1300 series that does have postscript and is compatible with Macs and was just over $300 about 2 years ago. On many printers it is either a standard or an option.
